Tuition for each class is set by the tutor and is charged monthly by most tutors. Occasionally, some tutors request that tuition is paid by semester. Instead of requiring tuition to be paid for the full year, we split the cost over the nine months (September - May) we meet for classes. Tuition is due to the tutor at the first class of each month.
Our preference is that our students attend classes for the full year, starting in September and ending in May. (Although you can start at HRT Academy any time during the year.) If unforeseen circumstances arise (a move, a financial situation, etc.) and you need to withdraw a student/students from class, please (if possible) give the tutor one month notice and let our admin know as well.
Our tutors rely on their class enrollment as a source of income and plan lessons and purchase supplies in advance for class activities/projects. They greatly appreciate being informed of any changes to their enrollment as soon as possible.
Each teacher has the freedom to choose how much grace they wish to show in their classroom. The protocol is 2 warnings in class and student will be asked to sit in another location. If there is a 3rd warning in class, student will be asked to sit outside of classroom until the end of class. It is the job of the student and teacher to connect after class to hear each other’s thoughts about what happened and what will be done differently next class period. Parent is contacted by the teacher.
If there is a second occurrence of the above scenario, pull in a member of the leadership team and have the after class conversation. Efforts will be invested in how better to support student and teacher in classroom for this student. Parent is contacted.
If there is a third occurrence of #1 scenario, there will be a meeting with parent, student, leadership team member about how to better serve student and teacher. Give reminder that next time #1 scenario takes place, student will need to miss class or a day of classes at HRT Academy.
After missed class, if a fourth occurrence takes place, the student will need to have an adult hang with them during their time in class and if necessary while at the academy’s campus.
1. Bullying.
2. Disrespect toward adults and students.
3. Not complying with requests/expectations for proper use of HRT campus and its furniture.
4. Intentional use of physical or verbal harm to another person.
5. Threatening the safety of others.
6. Bringing dangerous items to HRT Academy. Please do not bring knives, nunchucks, or other weapons to HRT Academy.
1. Throw garbage away.
2. Pick up after yourself.
3. Pool sticks will only be used for playing pool or left in upright position in corner of hangout room.
4. Do not bring drinks that will stain or leave sticky residue if spilled.
5. Treat one another with respect.
1. Students are not allowed upstairs or to hang out in stairwells for any reason.
2. The Garden Room is available for quiet study.
3. Please DO NOT bring food containing peanuts or tree nuts...some of our students are allergic. Also, AVOID anything containing sunflower seeds or sunflower oil.
