Description: Within our learning community, 3-5 year old children will engage in a Christ-centered, nature-based, child-led curriculum that is focused on social emotional development. Our class will be held primarily outdoors, in all seasons, with the support of an indoor classroom. Through this class, children will explore healthy risk taking and peer collaboration through hands-on experiences that engage all of their senses. While everything that young children learn is filtered through their unique sensory systems, our young learners will have access to hands-on activities each and every week. 

Each week, our young explorers will engage in a time of guided play that begins with a play provocation that supports children’s social emotional development. These provocations will engage all of our senses and encourage positive peer collaboration.

Our Class Rhythm:

9:00: Community Time 

9:15: Guided Play 

10:00: Snack

10:15: Art Extension

10:50: Community Time

Why Nature-Based Education?

Research shows that spending time in nature is beneficial to young children in multiple domains of development. Stimulating and calming in equal parts, the outdoors provides a perfect environment for kids’ sensory systems, activating their focus for learning. Outdoor classrooms present learners with captivating sights, smells and textures, stimulating all of the senses.  Sensory engagement could not be more critical to early learning—the more kids engage their senses and develop their sensory skills, the more they increase their capacity to take in and turn new information into knowledge. 

Materials Needed: 

Each child will need appropriate outdoor gear for each season, and will be asked to come to class, dressed for the weather each week. 

*3 year olds are welcome. Please note that your child must be potty-trained, unless you plan to be near by to help change your child's diapers if needed.

Description:  Join us for an exciting and energetic Elementary Physical Education class! This one-hour session, held mostly outdoors, focuses on building physical fitness through fun activities. Students will do cardio training with running, dancing, and team games, improve coordination with agility exercises, and enhance flexibility and strength with Pilates. Occasionally, we'll bring the activities indoors where we will have a brief lesson about nutrition before getting active, but our main classroom is the great outdoors. Come properly dressed and watch Google Classroom for announcements.

Level: K-4

Prerequisite: None

Supply Fee: $5 per student

TUITION: $40/month per student (This class will only be during Quarter 1 and Quarter 4.) (There is a 3 student minimum for this class to be offered (not including tutor's children). Student maximum is 6.)

Description:

Join our dynamic Life Skills class designed for students in grades 4-8, where every class is packed with practical learning and exciting adventures. Throughout the course, students will dive into consumer math, mastering essential economic concepts while honing practical life skills crucial for navigating the modern world. From budgeting and financial literacy to understanding the responsibilities of citizen leadership, students will develop a holistic understanding of personal and community empowerment. Students will learn how to plan  activities such as planning hikes, organizing camping trips, and learning outdoor survival techniques, fostering resilience and self-reliance in natural environments. Please note: Some homework assignments will involve activities like baking, basic cooking, and some outdoor activities like going on a walk, or observing nature. Some of these activities may require adult supervision and guidance. 

Level: 4-8

Description: The Quest Crew is a chance for students to do a variety of activities while being able to interact with each other. Topics I hope to cover include: storytelling, codes (Morse, etc.), team building, service (projects to benefit others in our community), creative challenges, etc. I am excited to give students a chance to enjoy a variety of activities and build friendships. Supply costs will vary each month, depending on the month’s projects. Fees will be collected at the last class of each month.

*This is a 75-minute class. This class starts on September 11th.

Homework: On occasion, there may be "homework."

Description:

Foundations in Personal Finance has a New Look! For this class, the parents will purchase, through the Ramsey website, the print + streaming option. They will have access to the videos, worksheets, and tests. The weekly class will consist of discussion, questions and answer, and take-home assignments. At home, the students will watch the assigned videos, and complete the worksheets and tests via the website. This is the first time using this curriculum format, so more information about it may come later on.
