LANGUAGE ARTS & COMMUNICATION CLASSES

Tutor: Amy Moechnig

Description: This class is intended as an addition to your chosen Language Arts curriculum for the student who is struggling with reading, handwriting, and/or spelling. Through repetition in physical, auditory, visual and verbal exercises, we will dive into the world of phonics. Addressing potential issues in dysgraphia and dyslexia, your child will gain confidence and discover the secrets to decode the written word.

As a private reading tutor since 2010, I have developed a course which incorporates silly stories and personification to make learning the rules of phonics and spelling memorable and fun! God has gifted me with the experience, ability, and passion to teach children to read and write.

Description: I love to read! Books often bring me joy. This class is a bit different than previous Middle School Literature classes, but I think it will be enjoyable. Here is a bit of an overview from the text we will be using: "This is a middle school English course. ...Children will learn all about newspapers and how to write all kinds of articles. They will also read two works...each month, working through history... The literature is excellent and will be enjoyed by most students. The writing assignments will develop writing skills, especially the ability to be clear, concise, and focused. ...Students can also...create their own newspaper. This should be fun and not stressful."
